Coordinator May 1995MalaysiaCoordinated the second major survey for the Sumatran rhinoceros in the Danum Valley Protection Forest Reserve, Sabah. This 2-week exercise involved 53 participants from academic, government, and non-government institutions and agencies from within and outside Malaysia. The State Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Development, the Sabah Foundation, and WCS funded the survey.

This study also resulted in an unpublished Ph.D. thesis in Biology, submitted to Mahidol University, Thailand. Also, I provided field training to the staff of the Sabah Wildlife Department and Mr. Dionysius S. Sharma from the World Wide Fund for Nature-Malaysia (WWF-M). Project funded by WCS.
